Laugo Alien Remus: Making the Best Pistol Better

The Remus is the new version of the Laugo Alien pistol. It was released about a year ago, and just recently also made available in a left-handed version – which I have been eagerly awaiting. The Remus is designed to be a more general-purpose and carry-suited pistol in contrast to the competition focus of the original Alien. It adds a manual safety, system for racking the slide with the optic while having a 0.8″ shorter barrel and weighing 25% less. The optics mounting options now include the Aimpoint COA, which I am also a big fan of.

Disclosure: Laugo gave me this pistol, so you will have to judge for yourself if I am being bought or if I genuinely believe this pistol is as good as I say.

  1. Why Czechoslovakia? Because the constructor of the Gun is from Slovakia, but it is produced in Czech republic. Laugo is very old name of the City of Trenčin, which is placed in Slovakia. It s the city where the creator of the Gun was born and he has been living. It is close to the Czech border. It is complicated to explanin common joint relationships. After fall of the East block all multinational states in the East block were destroyed by western powers to prevent any problems with colonisation.

    • Though there is ofc some truth in being very convenient for western folks that eastern block folded and feagmented the way it did, almost all of their people were eager to leave as quickly as possible the brotherhood of socialist nations under the good old russkies, as it brought them misery and poverty in the long run.

  2. “(…)more general-purpose and carry-suited pistol in contrast to the competition focus of the original Alien(…)”
Hmm… intersection of service automatic pistol and luxury automatic pistol is not empty.

    • I see conceptual overlap. The problem will be finding buyers. ‘Good enough’ tends to trump ‘absolutely stunning’ in the service pistol market.

  3. Isnt there a danger like in whats its name 1911 style pistol that imploded because while it was gaining selling traction, company announced new aluminium receiver version iirc, so sales of 1st version plummeted.

Dont like the grip here, feels like kitsch

  4. Laugo USA promptly responded to my question on a threaded barrel. It’s in development through their Czechoslovakia base and then requires ATF approval.
