  1. The experiences of the British forces in the Boer War so impressed military tacticians that they were used for many years to teach ground unit tactics. We even studied the “Battle of Borkums Rift” at the 107th Armored Cavalry a century later.R

Indeed it is, however related laws can not be ignored. If you wish so how you would explain that U.S. shooter prefer closed-bolt sub-machinegun-look-a-like self-loading guns rather than open-bolt submachinegun-look-a-like self-loading guns?

  2. I am American citizen living in Thailand. I had a home gun shop in Alaska. The Thai gun laws are very restrictive.I think overly restrictive gun laws, Create outlaws just my opinion.

  3. ‘Self-dense’…what usually happens when people arm themselves with firearms before arming themselves with knowledge.

  5. Term “self-defence” thru use of firearm is natural everywhere, but absolute no-no in Canada. You say you want gun license for self-defence and you can as well forget applying.

  6. As there are so few things we can do about laws in so many countries, why we don’t discuss it in a forum ? I’m afraid that instead of talking about FW and their mechanics here, we will end up organizing excursions and other events!
Tomatoes and cherries are both red but not the same …

  7. Charles de Gaulle was a great man for his country. There is a book “treates d’ esprit”, about his unique sense of humor in politics. It’s worth searching it in English if you don’t speak French.

    • So if I threatened a bank teller with an exposed rifle barrel without a receiver or stock or even ammo included, does that mean I threatened with a gun or with a clumsy bludgeon?

  8. I, for one, love these firearms laws overviews. They are interesting in and of themselves for curiousity’s sake, but also can give insights into why certain things are available/popular/developed in certain jurisdictions. Please keep doing one of these when you go to different countries. For that matter, I am really hoping you have one coming from your trips to France and Finland!

  9. Wow, he really looks taller in the movies!

My understanding is that there are no “Antique” firearms in South Africa- a gun is a gun, a brand new CZ or three hundred year old matchlock are legally the same and require identical permissions.
