Vintage Saturday: Battle-Scarred Maxim

Well, it's in better shape than a Maxim made by Century...

Looks like the crew stood their ground well and true to the Red Army Oath of Service.
“made by century” funniest caption ever, thanks Ian
That is a funny caption!
I’m not sure if it was the Oath of Service or the guys with the blue collar tabs at the next terrain feature back.
I really wanted to find proof that there were barrier troops with machine guns literally aimed at the advancing troops, but couldn’t. Rather, barrier troops were MP, checking everyone who wandered back and proccessing them.
Though if you are in a world that “Enemy at the gates” movie describes, then yeah.
And then, maybe the crew bugged out and every passing Landser (or Finnish trooper, or GI if this was in Korea) put a couple of rounds in it, just for grins.
All I can say is some gun crew had a very Bad Day.
