I was so saddened to hear of Bob’s passing. I was so fortunate to have met him on several occasions over past few years. Rarely does anyone meet a man with so much enthusiasm and passion for all things firearm related. Possibly in not more than a small handful of instances, post WW2 era, have all the critical elements converged ... knowledge, skill, passion keen eye for subtly, and Circumstances alighted that would allowed a man such as Mr. Feris and his incredible knowledge to exist. The collecting community and world of small arms research may never be the same with his loss.
Your memory will live on….God’s speed Sir !

I loved Uncle Bob and now there is a gaping hole in the MG community. He's with God now, showing him how to assemble a Vickers.

One might observe that the BAR lives on in the M240 Machine Gun. The M240 is the BAR with the bolt inverted, a quick change barrel & a feeder mechanism "borrowed" from one of the more successful machine guns of WWII. Altogether, a clever and sensible improvement of an already successful design.
